The Crossroads Owners Rally - Shipshewana IN - July 10 - 21

We arrived in Shipshewana on Thursday, July 10th, to meet up with friends and participate in the Crossroads Owners Rally scheduled for July 18th & 19th.  This is our third year of attending and each year meet new friends and get to know the old friends better.  Rick & Patty Michels, the Rallymasters, arrived shortly after we did and were parked in the site next to us.  Tom & Gloria Seiler arrived shortly after that and the party began.  More friends, Larry and Jean Boder, arrived on Monday, and Karen and Larry Serantoni arrived on Tuesday.  By the time everyone had arrived, there were over forty rigs participating.

A "super moon" night
And what could be better than sitting around with friends on a beautiful night and looking up to see the super moon in the sky.

Crossroads provided lunch and dinner for our Friday sessions along with a "town hall" type meeting with the company president and managers sharing their plans for the future as well as listening to the concerns we as owners raised.  In addition to the town hall presentation, they provided various training sessions.  You cannot be in Shipshewana Amish Country without enjoying a meal or two at the Blue Gate Restaurant as well as many of the other Amish restaurants, bakeries and meat markets.  Leanne Yoder and her husband, Melvin, provide breakfast and dinner for us on Saturday.  We eat very well while in Shipshewana.

Jim didn't know that I was going to be a participant in the training session held for women - teaching us how to hook up, drive, and set up the camper. Wish I had the pictures some of my friends took so you could see the expression on his face.  He was just a LITTLE surprised.  This old farm girl didn't forget how to drive...

One of the first RVs
Since we arrived a week before the rally started, we enjoyed a day of winetasting at one of the local wineries, a visit to a lavender farm, as well as a trip to the RV Museum in Elkhart.  RVs have come along way since the first ones were built in the early 1900s.  Especially when Jeff Gordon's personal rig pulled into the campground the weekend of the rally.

Jeff Gordon's personal RV - $2.4M - WOW!
It was a great twelve days and we are planning on going back next year.  Crossroads does a great job in taking care of their owners.   It was the best rally ever.  We look forward to meeting up with our Crossroads friends as our travels continue.
