We were all set to leave NY at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26th, only to find that with the 5" of rain we had the night before, the roads in the campground had been washed out. Our departure was delayed until the roads were repaired and we finally got on the road at 11:00 heading for PA Dutch Country in Manheim, PA. It was another very long day of traveling and we finally arrived at 5:00 only to find that there were just two sites left that were big enough to hold our camper. Needless to say, we were not "happy" campers. Fortunately, with the help of some neighbor campers, Jim was able to get our rig parked.

| Our site at PA Dutch Country - B22 |
Saturday night, a neighbor across from us with sitting by his campfire all alone. He looked very lonely so Jim went over and started talking with him. After an hour or so, I decided to join them and before we realized it, we had sat around the campfire until 11:30, a half hour after the "lights out" curfew. Our neighbor, John, was the perfect person for us to meet after a stressful few days. Before long, we found ourselves making plans for the next day and then the holiday weekend that was coming up when his girlfriend, Bobbie, would be joining him. We ended up going out to dinner with them on Friday night and enjoying a potluck dinner together on Saturday night. We ended up both nights sitting around the campfire until past curfew just having a good time. John and Bobbie will be friends forever and we look forward to seeing them again.

| The old depot in Lititz PA |
We took a trip to the small town of Lititz PA where we enjoyed lunch at the Tomato Pie Cafe and then visited the Wilbur Chocolate Factory that has been in business for over 100 years. We couldn't leave without buying some chocolate candy to enjoy.

| Lunch in the Dining Car at Isaac's Deli |
While at PA Dutch Country we enjoyed lunch at Bird-in-Hand Restaurant in Bird-in-Hand, PA, as well as Isaac's Deli where we ate in an old railroad dining car. From there, we headed to the
Pennsylvania RR Museum in Strasburg. We took the ride on the old steam train from Strasburg to Paradise and back and went into the museum where there were tracks and tracks of old engines that had been refurbished. With Jim being an old railroader, he was in seventh heaven identifying each one of the engines.
 |
| Jim is enamored with the old engines. This one is a 464 for those who know railroading. |
On our return to the campground using back roads and avoiding the traffic on Hwy 30, we took a beautiful ride through the country and even drove across an old covered bridge. We held our breath as we went across since the bridge was rated for three tons and our truck is four - oops...

| Out site at Seven Points COE, Hesston, PA |
Sunday - another travel day as we headed to Seven Points Corps of Engineer Campground in Hesston, PA. Seven Points is a beautiful campground with very unique sites. Our site has the camper on one level and then our picnic table is about 30 feet below us on another level. The lake is beautiful and the mountains in this part of the state are quite beautiful - not majestic like the Rockies but lush and green with some might steep hills. At some point we hope to come back.

 |
| Raystown Lake - 28 miles long - the dam is 1700 ft wide. Beautiful spot in the Alleghany Mountains. |
We will leave Seven Points on the 9th and head to Shipshewana IN for the Crossroads Rally where we will meet up with old friends.
